Prof. Dr. Gökhan was born in Istanbul in 1974. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Istanbul. He completed his medical training at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine between 1992 and 1999. He completed his residency at Istanbul Vakıf Gureba Training and Research Hospital between 1999 and 2003. After his residency, he worked at Istanbul Vakıf Gureba Training and Research Hospital between 2003 and 2008 in the branches of cataract, glaucoma, medical retina, and vitreoretinal surgery. Between 2007 and 2008, he gained experience in the field of ocular trauma at Şırnak Military Hospital. Between 2008 and 2011, he continued his studies at Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital. In 2010, he became an associate professor. He later moved to Istanbul Medipol University in 2011, where he served as head of the department for 3 years.
