Inner bra

The internal bra is a valuable method for stabilizing breast shape in the long term and ensuring aesthetic results after breast lifts, augmentations, and reductions. Whether surgically implanted or used as a mechanical mesh, it improves stability, protects implants, and supports the natural breast contour. Individual consultation and careful preparation are crucial for achieving a safe and lasting beautiful result.

An "internal bra" is a term from plastic surgery, frequently used in connection with breast lifts, breast augmentations, and breast reductions. It refers to both surgical techniques and special mechanical mesh implants that support the breasts and ensure a stable, aesthetically pleasing shape. The goal of the internal bra is to secure the breast's position, stabilize the tissue, and optimize the long-term outcome of the surgery. The internal bra is particularly relevant when the patient's own breast tissue does not provide sufficient support, for example, after multiple pregnancies, during aging, after significant weight fluctuations, or in cases of very soft tissue.

It can be used in two ways:

  1. Surgical internal bra: The patient's own breast tissue is carefully dissected and redistributed to create a stable internal structure. Breast and subcutaneous tissue are loosened, lifted, and secured with sutures. This improves volume in the décolleté area and increases stability.

  2. Mechanical internal bra (mesh): A biocompatible mesh is inserted during surgery to provide additional stabilization to the breast tissue or implant. The mesh supports the long-term shape, protects implants, and reduces the risk of complications such as displacement or capsular contracture. Over a period of 18 to 36 months, the body transforms the mesh into stable connective tissue, thereby firming the breast shape.

An internal bra is particularly useful if the breast tissue is weak or the skin is stretched. It is suitable for:

  • Women after multiple pregnancies

  • Women with severe tissue loss due to age or weight fluctuations

  • Combination procedures of breast augmentation and lift

  • Patients with soft tissue or low stability

An internal bra is not always necessary. With sufficient breast tissue or a small breast size, the technique can be omitted. The decision always depends on individual anatomy and aesthetic goals.
